We have to admit it. Donald Trump is shaking the U.S. Presidential Elections. He has been on the headlines since announcing his candidacy and has not wavered. Week-after-week, there’s something that “The Donald” had said, tweeted, did, or not that made headlines. Even the GOP Presidential Debates garners more viewers than that of the Democratic Presidential Debates because of him. And we ask why this is? Well, he speaks what most of us think. There are so many things that he had said that are offensive and likely, no minority or majority have been spared. He’s mocked them all! Result? Up in the polls and looking more like the front runner than the actual front runner of the GOP Party. But do we think he will win? Maybe not or maybe yes. The U.S. Presidential Elections is still 11 months away. Anything can happen.

Now, let’s go to the Philippine Presidential Elections. We have the clowns who we know are in in for the money, and the real candidates who are in it to make a change. May isa ng casualty and na-disqualify – Grace Poe. At, kung hindi daw matutuloy ang pag takbo ni Jejomar Binay dahil sa pending case with the Ombudsman, maari daw na tumakbo si Mayor Erap Estrada? Ano ba talaga tayo, mga hilo?

Enter Mayor Rodrigo “Duterte Harry” Duterte. He is a no-nonsense candidate who speaks his mind. He even admits to the media that he has killed three people. He has been known to be the iron fist who ruled Davao and credited to making the city one of the safest tourist destinations in the country. He has no qualms in speaking the truth and claim no regrets in what he did to bring order to Davao City.

The difference is that our Philippine Presidential Elections is to be held in May 2016. It is a lot closer than November 2016 when the U.S. Elections will be held.

He is gaining momentum more than the others. Sen. Miriam Santiago who had a lot of support before she chose Sen. Bong Bong Marcos as her running mate, is now trailing fourth in the polls behind Duterte, Roxas and Binay. So who is to say that Duterte being the wild card will not win?

Another difference in Philippine politics is that the President and Vice-President can be voted from different parties. Unlike in the U.S., the President and Vice-President comes from the same party. That makes our election more interesting because I believe, Leni Robredo has a good chance of winning but due to the support that Sen. Bong Bong has (and the money they have to spread during the campaign), medyo tagilid unless the people vote otherwise.

Kayo – sino ang kandidato ninyo?
