Ayan na.  The most prestigious awards in Films in the Philippines, (the OSCARS of the Philippines as they call it) has released the name of the nominees for 2015.  Sino ba ang bet ninyo?  Mukhang gusto ko yatang manalo si Gretchen Barretto as Best Actress for The Trial.  Hmm.

The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences, Inc. (FAMAS) announced the nominees competing for major awards in the 63rd FAMAS Awards Night.

This year’s edition will have the theme: “Throw Back Glam Day … A Look Back At Six Glorious Decades of Philippine Cinema.”

For this reason, six actresses from different generations are hailed as “Iconic Movie Queens of Philippine Cinema.”

These are: Gloria Romero, Susan Roces, Nora Aunor, Maricel Soriano, Dawn Zulueta, and Sarah Geronimo.

Coco Martin will receive the Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award. The ABS-CBN actor stars in the TV remake of FPJ’s movie titled Ang Probinsyano.

Ten young stars have been chosen to be recipients of the German Moreno Youth Achievement Award. These are: Bianca Umali, Diego Loyzaga, Jasmine Smith, Kiko Estrada, Kim Rodriguez, Mark Neumann, Miguel Tanfelix, Nadine Lustre, Robi Domingo, and Sofia Andres.

The awarding ceremony of the 63rd FAMAS Awards will take place on September 20 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
